Ulyweb
is a modular access control system for up to 64 doors designed &
manufactured in the UK. At the heart of the system is the
Web Enabled Access Controller which has built in technology
to allow the entire door access control system to be
connected to your Local Area Network (LAN) and managed
simply from any PC on your network, through its Internet
Browser. No software installation is required on any
computer or workstation on your network. With a browser
based interface, your learning cycle and training time is
significantly decreased and you don't even have to have a
dedicated PC, simply log on to the Ulyweb system and you're
ready to go. Your access controlled doors and entrances
can be managed and monitored from any 'web-enabled-device'
including PC's, Smart Phones, PDA's and hand-held internet
enabled devices. Easy to use web screens ensure that you
accurately administrate all users of the system and recover
that all important historical reporting information about
past access control events with ease.
The Web Server Access Controller will permit multiple
PC's to be connected and be actively monitoring or
administrating the system with no further software or
licenses required on any PC or workstation. It is possible
with the correct IT infrastructure and permissions, to
monitor and administrate the system securely from any
computer in the world.
The impressive specification for the Ulyweb system is below:

Access Doors & Entrances
The Web Server Access Controller allows the connection of up
to 64 electronic access controlled doors or entrances. Each
entrance can have 1 or 2 card readers permitting a total of
128
readers. The secured doors are connected on a low cost dedicated
cable network, consisting of two twisted pairs and a screen
(5-wire). The length of this dedicated cable network can be up
to 1200M. Each door or entrance is controlled by a local door
control unit (DCU) which allows the connection of all the door
facilities such as readers, local power supply and electric
locking. The door control unit acts as a junction point for all
the door facilities and allows the dedicated network to be
passed onto the next door or entrance. Each Door Control Unit (DCU)
will allow the connection of the following local facilities:
1 entry card reader
1 exit card reader (optional)
1 exit request button (optional)
1 electronic locking device
1 magnetic door contact
1 local alarm sounder or signalling device (optional)
1 12VDC PSU for locking devices and DCU power |
The Door Control
Unit (DCU) is designed to be located above or near the door or
entrance it serves. Each DCU requires a 100mAmp 12VDC power
source and can be powered by the locking devices power supply.
The door control unit is housed in a composite case that is
usually mounted close to the door or entrance it is managing to
minimize local cabling runs. It allows cable entry by way of
20mm cable entry points that can be utilized with or without
additional cable entry glands. The local DCU is compact and low
power and can be installed by electrical & security installers
with ease. All functions and appliances associated with an
individual door or entrance can be tested in isolation by virtue
of the built-in engineer test mode function.
What are the advantages of Ulyweb?
There are many advantages gained by installing the Ulyweb access
control system over more conventional systems, here are just
four:
1.
Large event audit history - conventional systems require the
software application installed at the PC to be online all the
time or periodically in order to avoid gaps or missing events in
the event audit history data. Ulyweb has a large internal memory
to automatically save up to 10 million historical events.
The
system can be unattended for weeks, months or even years with
the event history intact on the occasion when a historical event
report needs to be performed.
2. No software required - Ulyweb has built-in
embedded software that runs permanently in the main controller.
The built-in Web Server allows all event queries, administration
or real-time monitoring to be done through your favoured web
browser, workstation or internet enabled device.
3. Secure unlimited flexible operator access -
conventional systems require a software application to be
installed on each PC that is required to access the system and
operations must be performed at these workstations. Ulyweb by
virtue of its built-in Web Server and IP connection allows any
PC to be used on your LAN or WAN through your favoured web
browser. It is even possible to manage and query the system over
the Internet from any workstation in the world providing you
have the required authentication means.
4. Cross platform compatibility - the Ulyweb main
controller can be connected to your local area network (LAN).
Compatibility for Windows, Linux and MAC workstations is assured
with operation using all the popular web browsers, Smart Phones
& iPad etc.
Flexible & Powerful Operating Options
The Ulyweb Access Control System is always installed with one
methodology regardless of the number of doors or entrances
controlled. The main Ulyweb Server controller controls all
of the secured access control points by way of a dedicated low
cost access control network.
The above diagram shows the simple & modular installation
components. This system installation method allows for the
maximum reliability and integrity as the main controller has a
large capacity for cardholders and historical event storage. The
system, once configured may be left unmanaged for many months,
if not years as it manages itself entirely. Remember that a
permanently connected computer is not required as the Ulyweb
Server controller stores all the information and manages the
secured doors & entrances by itself.
LAN or Stand Alone Modes
The main Ulyweb Server controller is equipped with a single RJ45
Ethernet socket which is required to connect the entire access
control system to either your Local Area Network (LAN) or
directly to a PC if you wish by way of a RJ45 cross-over
(null-modem) cable. The former method (LAN mode) is the
preferred method as it allows the maximum flexibility for the
end-user as they may choose any computer on the network to
administrate or monitor the system through its web browser only
(no software required).
The latter method (stand-alone) by using an RJ45 cross-over
cable, creates in-effect a dedicated LAN with just two devices,
the Ulyweb Server controller and your PC, MAC or Linux
machine. With this method the computer can be connected
permanently or just on the occasion you wish to administrate
changes or run a report on historical event data. Stand-alone
mode is useful when the end-user does not wish or desire to have
the system connected to their LAN or when maximum simplicity is
required. Whichever operational method you choose Ulyweb
requires little or no intervention!
